Giethoorn adalah sebuah desa di provinsi Overijssel Belanda. Terletak di kotamadya Steenwijkerland, sekitar 5 km barat daya Steenwijk. Giethoorn digunakan untuk menjadi kota “bebas polusi”, di Belanda dikenal sebagai “Venesia dari Utara” atau “Venesia dari Belanda”.

Desa ini menjadi terkenal, terutama setelah 1958, setelah pembuat film Belanda Bert Haanstra membuat film komedi yang terkenal “Fanfare” di sana. Oleh karena itu, Giethoorn merupakan daya tarik wisatawan internasional yg terkenal di Belanda.

Di bagian tua di desa, tidak ada jalan (saat ini ada jalur bersepeda), dan untuk mengangkut semua kebutuhan dilakukan dari air di sungai2 yg sangat banyak. Danau di Giethoorn dibentuk dengan menggali gambut.

Giethoorn didirikan oleh buronan wilayah Mediterania di sekitar 1230 AD. Giethoorn adalah kotamadya terpisah sampai 1973, ketika itu menjadi bagian dari Brederwiede.

Giethoorn is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. Located in the municipality Steenwijkerland, about 5 km southwest of Steenwijk. Giethoorn used to be a city of “pollution free”, in the Netherlands known as the “Venice of the North” or “Venice of the Netherlands”.

This village became famous, especially after 1958, after Dutch filmmaker Bert Haanstra made famous comedy “Fanfare” there. Therefore, Giethoorn an international tourist attraction headliner in the Netherlands.

In the old part of the village, there is no way (currently there are cycling path), and to transport all the requirements made of the water in sungai2 who very much. Giethoorn lake formed by digging in the peat.

Giethoorn founded by fugitive Mediterranean region around 1230 AD. Giethoorn is a separate municipality until 1973, when it became part of Brederwiede.
